Public Pre-K Partnership & Attendance

Pre-K Fee Schedule

For those children participating in public pre-k partnership the cost of 10 hour per week of pre-k education has been set by the State of Vermont at $4106 for the 2026-2027 school year.  If you are also enrolled with SVSU or BRSU this amount will be subtracted from your annual tuition.  Any additional hours beyond those 10 will be charged at an hourly rate based on the number of days your child attends the BECC.  This rate only affects the morning tuition.  All early drop-off and late pick-up fees are the same as printed above for the ones and twos.

SVSU Public Pre-K Partnerships

Children who are three, four, or five years old (by September 1st) and have not yet gone to kindergarten, and live in the towns of Arlington, Bennington, North Bennington, Pownal, Sandgate, Shaftsbury, and Woodford (other Vermont towns may be eligible as well, but you would have to contact the supervisory union to request a placement at the BECC) may receive 10 free hours of pre-k education during the school year if they are dually enrolled in the BECC and the supervisory union.  Application forms can be found at the BECC office or by calling your supervisory union and asking for the early childhood education department.  

SVSU Public Pre-K Attendance Policy

The SVSU believes that attendance is directly related to student success, and that good attendance habits developed in Pre-K can build a foundation for good attendance throughout the student’s school career and ensure the student has the opportunity to achieve his or her greatest potential.  Please contact us if your child is going to be absent or late to school, through Brightwheel, by calling, 802-447-1093 or by emailing benningtonecc@gmail.com, and bring in a doctor’s note if the child has a medical appointment or sees a medical professional for illness, injury, or a well visit.  

If a child is absent from school without notification, the parents/guardians will be contacted.  An absence will be considered excused if it is due to illness/injury, religious holidays, or doctor’s appointments AND is accompanied by a written notice.  Children with multiple unexcused absences will be invited to attend a meeting to help remove barriers to school attendance.  Children who continue to have unexcused absences may be discontinued from the free public pre-k component of the program.  Any tuition not covered by the SVSU will be the responsibility of the parents/guardians.  Please let the school know if your child is going to be absent and/or if you would like support to help your child’s attendance.
